Taiko Group Kick-Off Meeting
Group forming at the Betsuin
Please join us on Sunday, January 5, at 11:30 a.m. in Classrooms 1 & 4 for a kick-off meeting if you’re interested in being in or helping start a taiko group at the Sacramento Betsuin.
At the Orange County Buddhist Church, they have had taiko for about 40 years now. Theirs is a family-oriented group from 10-year-olds to senior citizens.
Taiko is a wonderful activity that is also a way to express and learn Buddhism. It is dynamic, musical, and is an activity that is cross-generational. Taiko is even being used recently for senior citizens as a way to enhance memory and for exercise.
Since we will be starting from the ground up, many things have to be discussed and done, like building the drums for the group. This first meeting will be to see if there is enough interest to pursue starting a group.
