Sacramento BSA Troop 50G
Scouting Program sponsored by the temple
Troop 50G is a Scouts BSA Troop for Girls ages 11-17 and grades 6-12 chartered by the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. Troop 50G first became chartered in June 2020. We are committed to providing youth outdoor leadership opportunities and instilling in them good character traits and citizenship
Dharma School
Education
The Dharma School term runs from September through June during the regular school year. Nearly 200 children from pre-school to high school attend the weekly Sunday services at 9:30 am. Dharma School classes immediately follow the Sunday Family Services.
Jr. Young Buddhist Association (JYBA)
Social
The JYBA is an affiliated organization of the Sacramento Buddhist Church made up of high school age youth, who get together to learn about the Dharma while having fun together. Whether it is working together or learning together, there are many opportunities to be a leader or to just participate.
The Sports Program
The purpose of the Sacramento Betsuin Sports Program is to develop organized activities in which our Dharma school youth can develop friendships and positive social skills through activities and team sports. Essential to this goal is to have fun and nurture an understanding of fair play and sportsmanship. Our Sports Program currently includes Keiki Hula, family bowling and youth basketball in the Northern California Church League (NCCL).
Sakura Gakuen
Education
Sakura Gakuen Japanese Language School is a nonprofit school which teaches not only the language, but the culture and tradition of Japan. Our mission is to provide excellent Japanese language education for children and adults of diverse backgrounds. All are welcome to learn Japanese in a small class setting from our dedicated bilingual professionals.
Girl Scout Troop 569
Scouting Program sponsored by the temple
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Troop 569 is part of the Land Park Service Unit within the Girl Scout Heart of Central California Council. Established in 1992, the 569 Girl Scout Troop is among the largest and most active in the Sacramento area with over 200 girls, 20+ individual troops and 50+ leaders. We provide a place for troops to meet and work together.
Boy Scouts Troop 50
Scouting Program sponsored by the temple
Boy Scout Troop 50 is composed of boys ranging in age from 11 to 18. The Scouts enjoy many outings and participate in service activities for the Buddhist Church of Sacarmento. The Scout Sunday, held on the first Sunday in February is attended by all Scouting organizations. In addition, Boy Scout Troop 50 participates in the camporees with other Buddhist Temple sponsored Troops throughout the western states. The boys also enjoy a Scouting Exchange with Scouts from Matsuyama, Japan.
Cub Scouts Pack 50
Scouting Program sponsored by the temple
Pack 50 is the Cub Scouts program sponsored by the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. As an organization, we have been in existence since 1972 and are consistently recognized as one of the most successful Packs in the district. A majority of our Cub Scouts progress on to Boy Scouts and a high percentage of our Scouts progress through the ranks and achieve their Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank in Scouting. Our Pack is part of the Capital City District of the Golden Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
