J.A.M.S. Musical Event

The Jodo Shinshu Artists & Musicians Showcase—known as J.A.M.S.—featuring Buddhist and Asian American performers, is coming to the Buddhist Church of Sacramento in December, following an exciting show in the Bay Area.

J.A.M.S. received rave reviews when they recently performed at the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church. That concert featured Bonbu Stories, who performed their hit, “Lantern Song,” a contemporary number that celebrated the Buddhist Churches of America’s 125th anniversary last year and debuted at Obon festivals in California, including Sacramento. Bonbu Stories was joined by musician and Minister’s Assistant Koichi Mizushima and his talented daughter and vocalist Ellie Mizushima, among other performers.

The Sacramento show will also feature Bonbu Stories and the Mizushimas, and add another fan favorite—Rev. Yuki Sugahara who will jam on his bass guitar.

“We had so much fun performing with all of the amazing artists and musicians at theSouthern Alameda event, we wanted to bring this experience to Sacramento,” said Koichi.

The J.A.M.S event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. at the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. Tickets are $10.
