Celebrating 80 Years

Have you recently visited Japan—or dreamed of going? Curious about the culture, the food, and the latest trends shaping modern Japan? You don’t need a passport to experience it. The 80th Annual Japanese Food and Cultural Bazaar brings the spirit of Japan to our temple for this special one-day event.

For 80 years, the Buddhist Church of Sacramento has shared the vibrant flavors and rich traditions of Japan with our local community. On Saturday, August 8, we celebrate this milestone with a fresh and dynamic theme: Where Tradition Meets Today.

This year honors the beloved traditions that generations have come to know and love. Guests can look forward to the unmistakable aroma of our famous BBQ teriyaki chicken—smoke billowing along X Street—as well as streamlined food lines for popular favorites including the Beef Teriyaki Sandwich, Japanese sweets like anpan and mochi, udon, sushi and poke tuna.

Save the date!

Mark your calendar for August 8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and enjoy the best of both worlds—time-honored cultural experiences alongside the creativity and innovation of modern Japanese cuisine and lively entertainment. From nostalgic festival favorites to contemporary street food sensations, there is something to delight every generation.
