Tisarana Yoga
About
Tisarana Yoga seeks to cultivate relaxation and well-being in body, mind, and heart, safe for all ages and abilities.
Tisarana Yoga was established by the Buddhist Churches of America through the Bishop’s Expansion Fund. Instructors complete an intensive six-month teacher training program and final examinations, with certification through Bob Matsueda’s Yoga School, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, and India’s Ministry of AYUSH Yoga Certification Board.
While rooted in the traditional practice of Hatha Yoga, the program is presented as a health and wellness activity that complements Buddhist practices. Its emphasis is on improving physical well-being, reducing stress, cultivating gratitude, and supporting the overall health of participants while reflecting the values of compassion, kindness, and respect that are central to our temple community.
Tisarana Yoga is designed to be accessible and adaptable for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. With an emphasis on relaxation, each session incorporates breathing techniques, gentle and subtle body movements, asanas (yoga poses), and focused meditation. All are welcome.
All levels, abilities, religions, and ages are welcome. There is no fee for participating in a Tisarana Yoga class. Donations are gladly accepted.
