Tisarana Yoga

About

Tisarana Yoga seeks to cultivate relaxation and well-being in body, mind, and heart through practices designed to be safe and accessible for all ages and abilities.

Tisarana Yoga was established by the Buddhist Churches of America through the Bishop’s Expansion Fund. Instructors completed a teacher training program and final examinations. Graduates are certified by the Government of India through Yoga Vidya Gurukul www.Yogapoint.com; and registered with the Yoga Alliance

While rooted in the traditional practice of Hatha Yoga, the program is presented as a health and wellness activity that complements Buddhist practice. Its emphasis is on improving physical well-being, reducing stress, cultivating gratitude, and supporting the overall health of participants, while also reflecting the values of compassion, kindness, and respect that are central to our temple community.

Tisarana Yoga is designed to be accessible and adaptable for people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. With an emphasis on relaxation, each session incorporates breathing techniques, gentle and subtle body movements, asanas (yoga poses), and focused meditation.

All levels, abilities, religions, and ages are welcome. There is no fee for participating in a Tisarana Yoga class. Donations are gladly accepted.
